1. Welcome to WallpaperArt and please introduce yourself. Could you tell us where you’re from and how you got started in the field?
Hello! Thanks for the interview! My name is João Oliveira, I’m a 22 years old designer and illustrator from Portugal and am currently finishing a Communication Design degree.
My interest on the field started pretty late, my education was always focused on science, the decision to stop studying sciences and start studying arts only happened a couple of months before finishing high school.

2. Who and/or what made you want to become a graphic designer?
During my final year of high school I noticed I could earn money by drawing logos for contests and small clients, at that time I had no clue of how to design such thing so I simply practiced a lot, some time later I also started designing web layouts and earning some money. The passion for graphics started growing and I finally took the decision to make it my career.

3. You’re still taking a degree in communication design, how do you combine school and your freelance career?
It can get rough when I’m loaded with freelance jobs, at such times I have to make a decision and focus only on the most important work which is usually the client one. Aside from that and since I’m only working as a freelancer, without any daily schedule to attend, I can combine both sides pretty well.

4. Your works are very inspirational, it seems like you love to experiment a lot. What or who inspire you to keep pushing the limits and impress the other artists every time?
Yes I do, I find it very hard to stick to a single style for too long so I’m constantly researching new styles that could be commercially appealing.
About my inspirations, I can’t really choose a single person that deeply inspires me, I get bits of inspiration from everyone and everything and it all gets mixed on my works, stuff like music, mostly electro, electroclash and rock (psycho billy, rockabilly and other weird genres), b-movies, retro imagery like posters and books, etc, plays a big role on the direction and style of my works.

5. You’ve made this beautiful wallpaper “1967″ for our readers, can you tell us something more about it.
It’s a remix of my other wallpaper “T-Rex”, just more colorful and trendy, the style is the same and most of it’s elements were recycled from that piece, resulting in a whole new illustration suited to your computer screen!

6. We would like to thank you for the sweet wallpaper you made, is there anything you want to share with the readers, tips, love?
